Like every year, Sardinia in 2012 will be the favorite destination for beach holidays.

The clarity of its waters, the variety of beaches and coves suitable for every type of holiday, the presence of pristine and wild areas not affected by property speculation, make Sardinia a paradise for sunbathers.

Let’s start our journey among the best beaches in Sardinia exploring the area of Villasimius, seaside resort on the South Eastern coast of Sardinia, about 60 Km from Cagliari.

Starting from Villasimius we will explore the beaches towards Costa Rei, the other famous place on the South East side of Sardinia.

Simius Beach

The first beach of Villasimius is Simius beach, that can be found at the end of the road going from the town center to the sea. This is an almost totally public beach stretching for kilometers and fully-equipped. White and clean sand. Some parts of the beach might be reserved to the seaside hotels. There are many restaurants and kiosks close to the beach which is also suitable for children.

Timi Ama Beach

There’s a small cove between the beaches of Simius and Porto Giunco, the almost private beach of Timi Ama hotel: Timi Ama beach. White and clean sand and a fantastic glance between the pond and the crystal clear sea chatacterise this place. Thanks to the many services, the shallow and crystal clear waters, this beach is suitable for children and families.

Is Trais Beach

North of Simius beach, especially when the Mistral blows, it is possible to take shelter in a small beach, one of the less known gems in Villasimius: Is Trais or Porto Luna beach. This is a beach of polished pebbles, the perfect place for snorkeling lovers, but also suitable for children thanks to its shallow and clear waters. The beach has no services, that’s why is suitable for silence and peace lovers.

Riu Trottu Beach

Farther north in Villasimius there’s a less known and isolated beach – particularly suitable to camper enthusiast – that is worth to be seen just for its inaccessibility: Riu Trottu beach. This is a pebbled beach that can be reached trough the road that links Villasimius to Costa Rei. Despite its isolation, in the summer there is a kiosk.

Manuntzas Beach

A less known beach, one of the few recommended for naturists at least during the low season. Manuntzas beach is a small stone cove with no sand and therefore not very popular with families and children.

Punta Molentis Beach The Northest beach along Villasimius coast is the bay of Punta Molentis. Enclosed between a cliff where the fishermen boats usually stop and piles of boulders from a quarry, the beach is characterised by white fine sand that gives access to a transparent turquoise sea. Suitable for children and families, during the summer season Punta Molentis beach has services and amenities available with surcharge.

Cala Porceddu

Still north of Villasimius Cala Porceddu beach can be accessed on foot through a path, that’s why this beach is not very popular even in the peak season. With its white sand and the shallow waters, the beach is the perfect place if you love wild and secluded places.

These are the main beaches you can visit from Villasimius towards Costa Rei. If you are planning to go on holiday in Villasimius during the peak season, we recommend to verify if parking places are available with surcharge. If you are an active tourism fan, bike rental is recommended: save and avoid queues waiting for the parking.

From June 1 to September 30 the municipality of Villasimius imposes a holiday tax of € 2.00 per night per person for 4 stars and superior category hotels . € 1,00 per night per person for the hotels up to 3 stars. Exceptions are for campsites and holiday villages. 0.50 per night per person for non-hotel facilities of any kind.
